Peter Dorrell is a highly professional and successful consultant, facilitator, leader, manager and executive coach with extensive experience in organizational development:- change management, strategic planning, organizational improvement, people management and development with a particular focus on the public sector. He combines high level conceptual, analytical and strategic planning skills with significant experience in human resource management issues including the design, implementation, evaluation and accountability for projects linked to change and performance improvement; leadership and team development; building organizational capability & organizational restructuring. He is an experienced internal and external consultant, facilitator and executive coach with excellent people skills and a commitment to providing high quality service using a collaborative approach to continuous improvement. Peter’s particular interest is in managing people through change and working with leaders and leadership teams to find solutions to change management issues. His background in HRM included responsibility for leadership and executive development for Victoria’s largest government department and he has managed and led executive programs that challenge and support senior staff to reflect on their practice, their relationship to others and the impact they have on their organisation and on their people. His coaching includes working with individual executives and their teams and has been supplemented by postgraduate study in organizational change, with a particular emphasis on assisting individuals and teams to improve their practice, including where necessary, their working relationships. Peter also teaches at post graduate level in public policy. Prior to establishing the PD Consulting Group (1997) Peter was, for many years, a senior manager in the Victorian Department of Education where he personally briefed 5 different ministers under three governments. He was a founding partner in Telos Australia and is currently involved in several ongoing programs in government departments, hospitals and universities. A particular aspect of his work is to undertake organizational reviews using the ‘working note’ approach. He has undertaken reviews of this kind in The Department of Primary Industry, the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, Victoria Police, Latrobe Valley Health and the University of Melbourne to name just a few. |
